Champions League quarter-final preview

The second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals begins with Chelsea hosting Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge and Napoli hosting AC Milan on Tuesday, April 18. Inter Milan welcomes Benfica to the San Siro and Manchester City travel to face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, April 19.

Real Madrid, Milan, Inter and Man City all won their respective first legs and are favourites to qualify for the semi-finals, but Odds To Bet On has compiled Bet 365’s odds to see how bookies think the games could go this week.

Chelsea v Real Madrid

Chelsea lost 2-0 to Real at the Santiago Bernabeu last week and come into Tuesday’s game off the back of six games without a win, so it’s hard to see Frank Lampard’s men pulling off a miracle, even with home advantage.

The Blues have lost four of their last five games in all competitions and have suffered defeat in their previous three, so Real will fancy their chances of winning the second leg. They’re 6/4 to win in 90 minutes

Chelsea have failed to win their last four home games, losing twice, so a Real side boasting four wins from five across the board and five times from their last seven away games won’t fear the Blues. Real are 1/12 to qualify for the semis.

Napoli v Milan

Milan beat Napoli 1-0 in the first leg and thrashed them 4-0 in Serie A two weeks ago, but the hosts are expected to get their revenge on Tuesday.

Napoli have only lost twice in 90 minutes at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium all season while Milan have won just three away games in all competitions since October, so the hosts are 3/4 to win in 90 minutes.

Milan are the form team, however, with two wins and two draws from their previous four games, so they’re 7/10 to qualify. The Rossoneri have lost only two of their last 12 games, so they won’t fear Napoli.

Bayern v Man City

Man City beat Bayern 3-0 in the first leg and are coming off the back of 10 consecutive wins in all competitions, so they’re expected to reach the semi-finals. Pep Guardiola’s men are 1/40 to qualify

But Wednesday’s meeting at the Allianz Arena may be closer than the Etihad clash was. Bayern had won eight consecutive Champions League games before their defeat to City, so they could well get their own back this week.

Thomas Tuchel’s men have beaten Inter, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in Europe, so they’re 17/10 to win in 90 minutes. Whether they can overturn a three-goal deficit remains to be seen, however.

Inter v Benfica

Inter beat Benfica 2-0 in Portugal and are 1/20 to qualify, but the Nerazzurri have only managed one win in their last eight games, so Wednesday’s clash may be closer than anticipated. Inter are 23/20 to win in 90 minutes while Benfica are 12/5 to win in 90 minutes.

Benfica are underdogs after losing the home leg, but Inter has lost their lost three home games, failing to score in each outing. The Serie A giants have failed to win 44% of their Champions League outings this season, so they’re fallible.

Benfica aren’t in the best form either, however, with three defeats on the bounce, but they can take solace from their away form – eight wins from the last 10 on the road. Inter are the only side to beat As Águias in Europe this season too.

Benfica has travelled to Juventus and PSG without losing, so they should put up a fight at the San Siro. They’re 10/1 to qualify.
