Luton Town v West Ham United | Match Preview, Odds and Prediction

Luton Town welcomed West Ham United to Kenilworth Road on Friday evening and would love to get off the mark in their first home game of the season. Luton found themselves in the relegation zone already after suffering defeat in their first two Premier League outings, but they’ve not had a home game until now.

West Ham are no slouches, however, with David Moyes’ men unbeaten after three games while sitting second in the table, so Luton could be in for a difficult night. The Hammers could go top if they see past the newly-promoted Hatters, but Luton will go into the weekend at the foot of the table if they fall short.

Luton are 19th in the table without a point to their name after losing 4-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion and 3-0 to Chelsea. They’ve had a rude awakening in their maiden Premier League campaign but should be more formidable with home advantage as they lost only four times at Kenilworth Road in the Championship last season. Luton are 19/5 with Bet UK To Win.

West Ham were woeful away from home last season, winning only three of their 19 games on the road, so Luton should fancy their chances. The Hammers conceded 1.6 goals per game away from home in 2022/23, so Total Home Goals Over 1.5 is 11/4 with Bet Victor.

With Luton shipping seven goals already while West Ham has conceded in every league game this season too, Both Teams To Score is 10/11 with Unibet and Total Goals Over 1.5 is 3/10 with Matchbook. No side drew more home games than the Hatters in 2022/23, however, so Luton and West Ham are 29/10 with Bet UK To Draw.

West Ham are favourites to pick up all three points as they’ve won two and drawn one of their first three games of the season. Moyes’ men are second in the table after beating Chelsea and Brighton following their draw at Bournemouth, so they’re 13/16 with VBet To Win.

United haven’t locked horns with Luton since the 1990s, so it’s hard to gauge a winner from their past head-to-heads, but West Ham are the more established top-flight club who boast a far better start to the campaign.

The Londoners have Michail Antonio leading the line who has been in fine form with two goals from three league games. He’s 7/1 with Boyle Sports to be the First Goalscorer and 5/2 with Bet 365 to Score Anytime. Mohammed Kudus, who recently joined from Ajax off the back of scoring 18 goals with seven assists from 42 games last season, is 13/2 with Bet 365 to be the First Goalscorer and 5/2 with Bet 365 to Score Anytime.

Luton has Carlton Morris who scored 20 league goals last season. The 27-year-old has scored in the Premier League already and is 8/1 with Boyle Sports to be the First Goalscorer. He’s also 3/1 with Bet 365 to Score Anytime. Elijah Adebayo, who was second in the scoring charts with seven goals, is 10/1 with Boyle Sports to be the First Goalscorer and 18/5 with Unibet to Score Anytime.

Prediction: Luton 1-2 West Ham
